About the Spice: Aidan Fruit

The Aidan Fruit (Tetrapleura tetraptera) tree belongs to the Fabaceae – Mimosoideae family. It typically thrives in tropical African regions, especially in secondary forests and rainforests. These trees can grow impressively tall, reaching heights between 20 to 25 meters. Their bark is grey-brown and fairly smooth, while the leaves, which lack hair, are fixed in place and have stalks ranging from 15 to 30 centimeters in length.

The fruit itself is a standout—shiny, dark purple-brown, and smooth without any hair. What's fascinating is that the fruit pods are indehiscent, meaning they don't split open in a regular manner. Inside these pods, small, black, hard, and flat seeds are housed, known for their richness in oil content. The fruit matures between September and December. Hence, the prime time for its harvest.

These findings suggest Aidan fruit holds promise for liver health. However, further research is necessary to understand its potential benefits for humans.

8. It can help improve sexual health

Aidan fruit comes packed with vitamins and minerals that contribute to overall sexual health. It's loaded with zinc, vitamin A, iron, and vitamin C, all crucial for general health and enhancing libido. Calcium, found in Aidan fruit, helps balance testosterone levels and boosts sexual desire.
